FRAGRANCES OF THE FAMOUS

From Cleopatra to Jane Austen and Beyond

Saturday 12 September 2026

An Interactive Scent Event with Parterre

This free, interactive exhibition focuses on scent and how it has been used through the ages. From the sails of Cleopatra’s ship that were doused in her perfume, to the cologne Napoleon kept in his boot during battles. And of course the lavender and rose waters of Regency times.

10 fragrance compositions inspired and worn by the rich and famous, and some fascinating stories too.

If you would like to see how perfume has developed over the last 2000 years, then please come along… and be prepared to sniff!
